You hide your scars so well. |
Original article by Ruby Tuesday at My Thirteenth Sad Day In the muddled period before I went into hospital, I was self harming more that I ever had done in the preceding ten years, and more severely. It had become a competition with myself and I was obsessed with it. Even when I wasn't doing it, I was thinking about it and pestering the wounds I'd already made.
One morning, before things got bad again, I sat shivering at my desk in my pyjamas (I was working from home), unable to concentrate on anything because of the pervading thoughts about hurting myself. I picked up a red pen and coloured in all the scars I could see on my arms, from the big obvious ones, to the skant ones that only I know of.

There has, however been numerous studies and surveys carried out over the years that have attempted to throw at least some light onto the figures. |
